When the response varible is at level 1, ml_mediation uses the xtmixed, reml command by default with xtmixed, mle as an option. When the response variable is at level 2, i.e., the MV is level 2, ml_mediation uses the xtreg, be command. The ml_mediation program will detect which variables are level 1 and which are level 2.

Feb 09, 2018 · This video provides an introduction to using STATA to carry out several multi-level models, where you have level 1 and level 2 predictors of a level 1 outcome variable. The video begins with a ...

While I am aware that Mplus currently doesn't allow bootstrapping of two-level models with indirect effects. Is there a solution to this? I have discovered a pieced together approach by Lau and Cheung (2012) using Mplus in conjuction with LISREL/PRELIS, but wow lots of work here.

Thus SEM has two main components: the measurement paths and the structural paths. Path analysis refers to the structural paths and will be introduced on Day 1. We will also cover mediation analysis and the correct use of regression models, depending on features of the outcome variable. We will fit and discuss an assortment of models in Mplus ...
Unlike models that include latent variables, path models assume perfect measurement of the observed variables; only the structural relationships between the observed variables are modeled. This type of model is often used when one or more variables is thought to mediate the relationship between two others (mediation models).

  • 2) How should I interpret the between-level indirect effect of the 1-1-1 mediation? Is it the effect of the aggregate of X on the aggregate of Y via the aggregate of M. Or should I not interpret this indirect effect and is it only estimated to get an unbiased indirect effect at level 1? 3) Y is ordered categorical.

A small-scale simulation study was conducted to empirically investigate the effects of a level-2 omitted variable on the fixed effects in a 1–1–1 mediation model. Data generation was based on the population model for the 1–1–1 mediation model shown in equations (13) and with a level-2 predictor W j for both

The non-bias-corrected bootstrap approach will generally produce preferable confidence limits and standard errors for the indirect effect test (Fritz, Taylor, & MacKinnon, 2012). • If the two diverge then either the mediators must affect one another or there must be an additive interaction at the individual level between the effects of the two mediators. In some applications, mediators are considered one at a time and the proportion mediated is calculated for each of these.

  • From what I can tell, mediation is calculated at the between level, even for a 2-1-1. I used data from the Mplus website and modeled it in lavaan (a) to reproduce the MSEM in Mplus, and (b) estimate a 2-1-1 model with a single mediator. I assume this will scale to multiple mediation. Here’s my lavaan code:
